It is eventually this which empowers every person - man or woman. For it is through our knowing of this/ ourselves, that we find the strenght to rise above and liberate ourselves, be it from an abusive relationship or any other experience that tests us. Until we find this sense of ourself, I guess these relationships or experiences remain/recur.Gopika Nathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05045583005627540260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7332104658431066325.post-75135136235534457532012-05-31T17:37:18.319+05:302012-05-31T17:37:18.319+05:30Just adding a bit Gopika, the choice to leave a hu...Just adding a bit Gopika, the choice to leave a husband's house, never comes easy, not because of the heart, more because of what after that. There are economic issues, social issues and hardest of them all, emotional issues. It is certainly not an easy choice.

Having said that, I will say this for every woman: she may take a lot of time to decide on this, but it is only that one last straw that is required to push her to the other side called freedom from her man and then, whatever the struggle, it is well worth it.

Nice post, Gopika!Julia Duttahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08846895945401962741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7332104658431066325.post-46132397283981111692012-05-31T16:14:35.620+05:302012-05-31T16:14:35.620+05:30Julia, please come and enjoy the kitchen romance s...Julia, please come and enjoy the kitchen romance shenanigans in my home, any time. I have more than my fair share of them.

And re the empowerment of women within marriage, be it the house-help or elite lady across the hall-way, you may be right. But at some level, what I am interested in knowing, is whether the kind of choice Priti made actually falls short of a "personal empowerment recipe" or whether it is about dealing with such situations in another, less aggressive way that may involve sacrifices to begin with, but eventually leads to a more enriched being/life - a different kind of empowerment which draws from the spiritual realm, more than the limited world of mere humans [?]

Thanks for reading and your comments too. :-)Gopika Nathhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05045583005627540260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7332104658431066325.post-32958013343861834362012-05-31T14:14:28.030+05:302012-05-31T14:14:28.030+05:30Hi Gopika,

Don't mind, but I quite liked the Balaji Film production mega love serial happening in your house!!

I am of the opinion that you must keep the movie on, as even if you try to stop it, it won't. Love-shove, aisa hi hota hai!!

On a more serious not, the point of empowerment of working women of any class is concerned, I am quite certain that, that empowerment is more to do with the mind, than with the notes one earns. Hence, whether, it is your house help, or that elite lady across your window, on the other building, opposite yours or mine for that matter, when it comes to marriage and doing what "my husband" wants, most women fall short of any personal empowerment recipe.

JuliaJulia Duttahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08846895945401962741noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7332104658431066325.post-81979762798636371412012-05-31T13:31:18.184+05:302012-05-31T13:31:18.184+05:30Yes, Anuraag, I agree with you, it could be every ...Yes, Anuraag, I agree with you, it could be every household's story. What you said about it being tough being a woman regardless of the strata she belongs to, is pertinent, but on the positive side, the adversity she copes with also says a lot about being a woman - her courage, her resilience and more. I am glad you find the stories on the blog thought provoking. She has to tackle him, take care of her daughter who is perpetually sick, and also maintain relations with her other married daughter who needs her support. It is a tough life being a woman whatever strata of life one belongs to. Those living in urban areas have atleast started 'managing' the issue, wonder what happens to those in rural areas...
